These are the Top 10 things you need to know about the new Kindle.
As of this July 2011, the 3G Kindle is available in two versions:
the original $189 version and a $139 version known as the
Kindle with Special Offer. What’s so special?
In a nutshell it is ad-supported.
But because the ads are limited only to the screensaver and main menu screen,
by some they are considered “non-invasive.”
So for some there is little disadvantage to buying that cheaper model:
1. It is skinny, and more compact when compared to the previous model.
2. The screen has improved with higher contrast and quicker page turning.
3. Naturally it has native PDF support.
4. Huge library of content and media.
5. Built-in Wi-Fi and free 3G wireless “Whispernet” data network.
6. Yes it takes notes with a built-in keyboard for notes.
7. Memory capability is 4GB (3.3 usable) of internal memory.
8. Storage capacity is 3,500 electronic books
9. Eight fonts available
10. Displays images and plays MP3 and AAC audio.
Observations: There is no expansion slot for adding more memory, and there is no support for EPUB book files. If you want a protective carrying case you have to buy one as it is not included. Also, the battery is not removable because it is sealed into the device.
